First off let me explain why my art classes are not your typical art class.
A few years back I went through some very heart wrenching times. There is nothing quite like seeing our babies hurt in their own traumatic hell. It threw me into a dark place. In seeing my child suffer, it brought my own sufferings to the forefront and I didn’t know how to “deal with it”. I spiraled out of control in my mind, and I prayed, and prayed.
I hadn’t painted in years but the canvas was calling to me. As I began to paint, a process I had never experienced emerged, it was raw color expression, no realism. It was new, different, unstructured and I didn’t care about the opinions of others and “how it looked”, I was expressing my emotions in color and it was helping.
As I worked through this process that God dropped in my lap, I quickly learned this was about more than me. God had given me a formula to help people who didn’t want to talk about their stuff. Honestly there are times we just don’t know where to start, because words can’t come, at least that was how it was for me. This process would allow people to paint it out with no art experience, skill, etc, because expression is expression, no matter how it looks.
This is how Bara’ Color Expression Painting was born.
Bara’ is a Hebrew word, that means create or shape.
Bara is the creation word in Genesis, among many other scriptures. It is also the create word in Psalm 51:10 ESV, as David cries out.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
This is what Bara’ Color Expression is all about; renewal, cleansing, freedom, insight.
I guide you through a 4 step process. The class takes about an hour. I work with individuals, families, workshops, retreats, etc. I have worked with men, women and children from age 7 to 80.
